Public work matters. Help us build what comes next.

We founded CivicSol to help communities make consequential decisions and put them into practice. Our experience inside government and alongside business and civic leaders has taught us how much that requires. Good research needs to inform a choice. Partners need to agree on their responsibilities. The people carrying out a strategy need the authority, resources, and support to deliver it.

We built the firm around that understanding. We’re now working in 15 states across the country. Communities are trusting us with assignments that will shape access to careers, economic opportunity, and the capacity of public institutions to serve their residents.

We are growing our team to meet that responsibility. We want colleagues who care about public work and are excited by the opportunity to help build a firm devoted to it.

The work behind our growth

In Austin, we developed the Infrastructure Academy strategy to help prepare residents for careers connected to the region’s infrastructure investments. Building transportation, water, and other essential systems requires a workforce ready to deliver them. The strategy connects that need to career opportunities for local people.

For Los Angeles, we created a workforce master plan playbook to help organize workforce efforts across one of the country’s largest cities. In Birmingham, we developed an energy and grid workforce strategy focused on helping young people enter the trades. That work examined the practical barriers between interest and employment, including instructor shortages, apprenticeship eligibility, and the commitments employers need to make.

We are also developing Fort Worth’s economic development strategy and working with the North Central Texas Council of Governments on a strategic plan to guide its priorities and collaborative work across the region.

Across these engagements, our team helps leaders answer questions with lasting consequences. Which careers can residents access, and what preparation will they need? Where can a community compete for investment? What should a public institution prioritize, and how will its partners contribute?

These questions require us to understand the evidence and the community. We work with the people who hire, train, invest, govern, and deliver services to develop recommendations they can carry forward. Our contribution is to make the choices clearer and help organize the work that follows.

Help lead the work and build the firm

CivicSol is a fast-growing startup. Joining now means taking meaningful responsibility for client work while helping shape how the firm develops.

Team members work directly with the Partners and with the leaders responsible for moving an engagement forward. They contribute to research, develop recommendations, lead discussions, and manage projects with multiple partners and deadlines. They also help develop proposals that define how we would approach a community’s next challenge.

That combination calls for people who enjoy thinking deeply and keeping work moving. You might be testing a finding with an employer, working through a recommendation with a city’s leadership team, or revising a proposal after a conversation changes your understanding of the assignment. The ability to connect those activities is central to the work.

There is also room to influence how CivicSol operates. As our engagements expand, we are improving how we manage projects, share knowledge, and develop our methods. We want colleagues who notice what could be better and help make it better.

We use AI and other tools regularly to support research and delivery. We expect people to explore their usefulness, understand their limits, and check the results. The judgment behind a recommendation remains our responsibility.

Who will thrive here

People who thrive at CivicSol take ownership. They can organize a complex assignment, make progress independently, and recognize when a conversation with a colleague or client will improve the result.

They are curious about communities and willing to question their own assumptions. They can explain what an analysis means in plain language. They welcome direct feedback and contribute it thoughtfully. When a deadline or project is at risk, they raise the issue early and help work through it.

Our fully remote team depends on that combination of independence and collaboration. Colleagues need to be able to rely on one another, understand where the work stands, and ask for help when it is needed.

The startup environment is part of the opportunity. Our work is expanding, and team members have a hand in establishing the practices that will support our next stage. Someone who enjoys improving a process, developing an idea, or taking on a new responsibility can make a visible contribution here.

As the firm grows, there is room to deepen your expertise, lead larger engagements, contribute to our published thinking, and help develop the team around you.

Join us

We are currently recruiting for a Director role to lead client engagements in economic development, workforce, and public strategy, and to develop proposals alongside the Partners. We also welcome interest from people who see a place for their experience in the firm we are building.

CivicSol’s next stage will depend on the people who join us. We want teammates who are interested in the choices communities face and ready to take responsibility for helping them move forward.

If you want to help shape that work and the firm behind it, we would like to hear from you.
